Roy’s Restaurant is back at it again to take your taste buds on a tour of Korea with their new Global Tasting Menu!
What is the Global Tasting Menu at Roy’s Hawaiian Restaurant?
Roy’s Global Tasting menu was first introduced back in February where they gave guests a taste of Japan with a pre-fixe menu inspired by Roy’s Japanese heritage. The pre-fixe menu includes 3 courses with a choice of their uniquely curated appetizer, entree, and dessert for one set price. This time around, they’re taking guests on a tour of Korea!
What is included in the Taste of Korea Global Tasting Menu?
The first decision you’ll have to make is to pick one item from their appetizer options.
Wagyu Beef Mandu
Korean dumpling filled with wagyu beef and served with firecracker dipping sauce.
Crispy Calamari Salad
Crispy calamari served a top a bed of asian pear salad with miso dressing. It was my first time having asian pears in a salad and it was actually very tasty! The crunch and sweetness of the pears paired perfectly with the miso dressing and fried calamari (though I do wish the calamari was a bit crispier).
Next up is the main course! Pick between two tasty options.
Galbi Boneless Beef Short Rib
Tender galbi boneless short rib served with kimchi mashed potatoes, bok choy, and mung bean sprouts. OH MY GOODNESS, this dish was the star of the show here. Although it didn’t look it at first, the meat was so tender and well flavored. I absolutely loved this dish and they give such a good amount of pieces, I would highly recommend picking this entree if you love meat.
Sesame Crusted Salmon Bibimbap
Sesame Crusted Salmon served with shiitake mushroom, spinach, kimchi, and a fried gochujang quail egg on top of rice. The salmon on this dish was so interesting! I’ve never had sesame crusted salmon and the texture was very different in a good way, but after trying the Galbi Boneless Short Rib, this dish just wasn’t as favorable for me. I would recommend this dish if you’re looking for something on the lighter side and especially if you love sesame.
Last but not least, for dessert you’ll have the option of picking between their special Taste of Korea dessert or one of their signature desserts from the regular menu.
Asian Style Cotton Cheesecake
Asian Style Cheesecake served with a light lychee sauce, macerated asian pear, and a sesame seed lace tuile was a very creative and beautifully presented dessert. The lychee sauce was very light and I’d recommend requesting for extra sauce if you’re really looking to taste the lychee.
How much is the Taste of Korea Global Tasting Menu Pre-Fixe?
The set menu price will be $44/person and this limited time menu is expected to be here until August 31st.
The nearest Roy’s Restaurant is located at the Anaheim Gardenwalk that offers both indoor and outdoor seating. I recommend sitting outdoors since the weathers been fantastic, you can people watch, and the overall ambiance just makes you feel like you’ve been transported on vacation!
