If you love fried chicken, then you’ll want to add Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken to your list of must try restaurants! The brand originated in Memphis, Tennessee and already has 25 locations nationwide, two of which are located in LA. Well, if that’s too far for you, you’ll be happy to hear that they’ve recently opened a location in Long Beach!

What are some of their specialty items?

1. Gus’s World Famous Spicy Fried Chicken

Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, this is fried chicken at it’s best! The fried chicken comes seasoned with their secret recipe and does have a bit of a kick although you can spice it up a notch with their Louisiana Hot Sauce. Each order of chicken comes with a few slices of white bread which is a tribute to the traditional chicken sandwiches in Memphis.

2. Fried Okra

Whether you’re  a fan of okra or not, if you’re going to try it, try it here! Crispy little bites of okra served with a side of ranch, these stay juicy on the inside with a nice crunch on the outside.

3. Fried Tomatoes

Slices of juicy green tomatoes deep fried in Gus’s special batter served with a side of ranch. They also recommend you use a knife since it tends to get messy!

4. Mac and Cheese (small side)

One of the few sides Gus’s offers along with their Beans, Potato Salad, Greens, or Cole Slaw. Their beans and cole slaw are flavored slightly sweet to balance the spicy fried chicken.

The one page menu here is very simple but will definitely satisfy your cravings for some good ol’ Memphis comfort food. At Gus’s Fried Chicken, they value quality over quantity and unlike your usual fast food fried chicken joint, they only serve fresh, never frozen, natural, hormone-free chicken fried in peanut oil.
